We at AILU pride ourselves on working with our members to ensure that they gain the maximum benefit from their membership.

As a network-based organisation, driven by a fascination for lasers and their many uses, we can offer excellent support, consultancy and guidance via our dedicated team.

Registering with or Joining AILU

Registration is open to all. Once registered a user name and password is given which allows log-in to limited access within the Member's area. To register, please complete the AILU Registration Form) and submit

Membership of AILU is open to the laser community worldwide and those with an interest in lasers and their applications: both individuals and organisations. There is also a concessionary rate for students and retired people. In addition to the general benefits of the Association (see Members Benefits here), Membership gives full access to all the features and information on this website. Just log-in.

Corporate Membership

The first member to join from an organisation whose activities are related to laser materials processing must enrol the organisation as a Corporate Member.  For Multi-nationals each site (with a different location/post code) must have one Corporate member before "Individual Membership" can be used.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Corporate Membership: GBP 290 + VAT

Individual Membership

Any additional employees of a Corporate Member company, or persons whose business activities is unrelated to laser materials processing.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Individual Membership: GBP 70 + VAT

Concessionary Individual Membership

There is a concessionary rate available for retired and unemployed persons.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Concessionary Individual Membership: GBP 50 + VAT

Student Individual Membership

This is available to any full time student.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Student Individual Membership: GBP 25 + VAT

Registered Visitor

This gives you limited access to additional functions of the website. Once you've completed the registration form and received your password, you'll be able to access a number of additional services including:

  •   The facility to submit technical questions through the Laser FAQ's
  •   Emailing sales enquiries direct to a subset of members in the Product and Services  Directory through the link in the directory.
  •   Offering items for sale to AILU members.
  •   Submit a ‘situation wanted’ to the AILU membership.
  •   Access to the Design for Laser Manufacture area for information on designing for laser-assisted manufacture; including design notes, data sheets and examples of items manufactured by laser. 
  •   Apply to attend a workshop on-line and receive flyers for workshops matching your areas of interest. 

Why does AILU have a registration scheme?

There are several reasons why we ask people to register:

  •   We need your basic contact details in order to provide you with the information you are requesting. 
  •   Members will only give time to respond to requests for information and/or provide information to the site if they have confidence that it is for persons with a serious interest. You demonstrate this by providing your details.
  •   We aim to have a balanced cross-section of users who accurately reflect the full spectrum of the industrial laser user industry. By registering and providing some information we can assess which groups or types of organisations are using the website. This helps us to work more effectively, give organisations information relevant to their needs and generally improve the services we offer.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Registered Visitor (of the AILU website):  FREE

Payment is not required at the time of applying for membership; and the annual subscription pays for a full 12 months, whichever time of the year you join.

What does AILU do with the information collected?

Your data will only be used for the purposes as stated above and will be treated in confidence. We may send you other information that might be of interest to you. However, we will not sell, rent, share or lease your personally identifiable information to others. We will not disclose it to any third parties, unless we are required to, or permitted to by law, or where you have given us your consent in advance.
