The benefits of AILU membership are many and varied and include the following:
This magazine, which has attracted the highest praise from the international laser community, is distributed only to members and is generally regarded as one of the key benefits of membership. The growing library of articles from past issues, fully categorised, is available for members to download.
Members enjoy a discount to attend workshops and to exhibit; and receive advanced notice with the offer to recommend speakers, subjects and venues. See Events and Events Archive). It's like a filing cabinet, we encourage you to move through each year's tabbed section.
Corporate members (only) who supply laser-related products and services are listed (free of charge) in all appropriate categories. Through its high search engine rating, members included in this directory enjoy a greatly enhanced internet presence.
As well as being listed in the products and services directory, members enjoy AILU’s free enquiry service whereby potential sales enquiries to the AILU office are forwarded to all members in the appropriate section of the P&S directory.
Members have free entry to the individual and (for corporate members only) corporate members directories, providing a valuable reference source for member networking.
Members enjoy free limited consultancy. And where there is an element of sensitivity in making the identity of the enquirer known, questions (sent in by telephone or email) are forwarded to selected members from the AILU office without divulging the name of the enquirer. By involving the whole membership in the consultancy activity, members are assured of practical advice on a wide range of subjects from safety to technical and business enquiries.
AILU members automatically qualify for access to the Technical Forum, through which they can make contact with visitors to the AILU web site who have posed technical or business questions. In addition, members of special interest groups have their own forums, through which they can pose questions and discuss items of common interest.
We conduct at least two surveys a year for laser job shops, free to participate in, on such topics as the price of gas, electricity, materials and transport. We also, occasionally, undertake surveys of research organisations, summarising their particular interests and capabilities.
Members can apply for free membership of special interest groups. At the present time there are five groups: the Job Shop Group, the Market Development Group, the Medical Group, the Micro:Nano Group and the Product and Process Innovation Group. For more information see Laser User Groups.
Members can submit a situation vacant, which will be accessible to all visitors to the site.
Members are encouraged to submit items of news and editorial for the magazine; this will also appear on the website and is free of charge. Members also receive a discount on advertisements placed in the magazine, the AILU website and on exhibition stands taken at AILU workshops.
